SEO The Title Tag
Search Engine Optimisation The All Important Title Tag.
For SEO you do need to make sure that each one of your pages conforms to the requirements to rank well in the search engines.
Here we will look at each of the elements individually which are referred to as on page optimization.
The title tag
The title tag gives information to the search engine as to what this page is important for. It is therefore not a choice but a pre requisite to make sure you get this right. Using only your business name as the title for all your pages is a loss for your website ranking ability.
It is important to remember that people are not searching for your business but for the product or service that you are offering.
If you don’t know much or anything about the code that runs behind your website the title tag is located in the header section of your code. The title tag does not necessarily appear on your webpage. It can be manipulated in different ways.
But for this explanation we will accept that the title tag will be the same as the title of the page we are creating. In Joomla CMS and Wordpress the title tag can automatically be assigned to the page that you are doing.
Where the title tag plays its biggest role outside of your website is in the ranking display of the search engines. This is what people will see and read as well as make them click on your link instead of another link.
As you will notice a good title tag can get you more visitors if it tickles their interest and it might answer the question as to what they were searching for.
How to write a title tag
You must include the keyword or keyword phrase that you are trying to rank for in the title.
Place it as close as possible to the front of the title
